Using state-of-the-art Genom technology, researchers from Junagadh Agricultural University have developed peanuts that are harmful cholesterol-free. The new quality is developed for better quality by changing the product’s DNA with Genom technology.

Peanuts are harvested in Gujarat’s Saurashtra region. In the year 2017, record-breaking 3.2 million tonnes of peanuts alone took place in Saurashtra. Junagadh is the third agricultural university after the Mohali and Jawaharlal Nehru University in the country, which has tried to increase its quality by removing or replacing cropped DNA with the use of genom technology.

According to researchers, two types of fatty acids are found in groundnut. Oilyic Acid and Linoleic Acid, both of which are 80% of groundnut oil. Linoleic acid cholesterol increases, while Olik reduces cholesterol by acting against it.

According to the researchers, if this process is traditionally done by cross-binding, then 8 years go by preparing itself and the next 3-4 years should be done for regular process, while genome technology can be reduced from this period to two to three years and Nevertheless, the results get better.
